Ua Pou

L'île à la pierre fleurie

In the Marquesas, Ua Pou is an authentic and almost inaccessible island:

Its arid landscapes and high relief

Ua Pou is defined by its basalt peaks, viewpoints and valleys, which can be more or less dense with vegetation, depending on the season. The island offers a wealth of discoveries on walks and hikes: archaeological sites, bays and coves...

Unique craftsmanship

Ua Pou is famous for its stone sculptors, particularly the famous flowered stone that is emblematic of the island. At the Hakahau artisan fare, you can admire this unique work.

UA POU, an island made for you?

Far off the beaten tourist track!

Ua Pou, with its columnar mountains, has long inspired the many artists and writers who have trodden its soil. Its wild landscape is surprisingly far removed from modern life.

You're sure to be seduced by the island's tranquility. Don't leave Ua Pou without seeing the Valley of the Kings, Shark Bay, the craft center and the island's archaeological sites.

Both Ua Pou and Ua Huka have airports, but unfortunately they don't operate frequent flights. Flights are mainly for locals, and it's very difficult today to integrate a land-based visit to Ua Huka and Ua Pou, despite their undoubted interest. To date, the ARANUI cruise remains the best option for a guaranteed visit.
