Huahine

Île Sauvage

Authenticity guaranteed, Huahine is sure to charm you:

Wild beaches

Huahine is full of wild, peaceful beaches and bathing spots. Here you're a long way from the hustle and bustle of Bora Bora and Moorea: you'll never see a crowd!

Snorkeling potential

The lagoon is rich, deep and full of fish. Snorkelers can enjoy coral gardens, spots for blacktip sharks and all the other inhabitants of the sea!

Its local curricula

The sacred eels of Faie, the vanilla plantations, the pearl farm, the marae (temples), the shell museum: Huahine may be a calm and restful island, but it's still very interesting to visit from the inside: on your own, or during a 4x4 outing, for example!

Local accommodation made simple

In Huahine, you won't find any luxury hotels above the 3-star superior (which is already a very fine establishment). Simplicity is king on this island

HUAHINE, the island for you?

The island for lovers of authenticity and tranquillity

Polynesians often call it "Huahine the most beautiful". A wild, sparsely inhabited land untouched by tourism, this island is cited as the great surprise of the Pacific. It's also here that you'll enjoy the most beautiful sunsets, and above all, the most beautiful starry night sky! As there is less infrastructure, the sky is less full of artificial lights.

No matter where you stay on Huahine, you shouldn't leave the island without discovering its land and lagoon attractions: snorkeling spots, pearl farms, vanilla plantations, marae, sacred Faie eels, pareo workshops, viewpoints... I always like to recommend a full 4×4 tour with local lunch and a pirogue tour to explore the lagoon and enjoy a lazy moment on a motu (islet).

Accommodation in HUAHINE

On this island, you won't find an unlimited supply of accommodations, but some styles may suit you better than others:

  • 3-star sup: the Maitai Lapita is located to the north, overlooking a lake and the beach. Quite an original panorama!
  • 3-star standard hotels: the Mahana hotel is one of the island's mainstays, located in the south of the island in a quiet village atmosphere.
  • Guesthouses: Moana Lodge in the south and Fare Maeva in the north are two rustic, local guesthouses for smaller budgets. The Tupuna guesthouse is ideal for adventurers in search of nature and isolation.
  • Rentals: Bougainville Villas offer modern comforts and access to a rental car, for maximum autonomy when discovering this island.
